Founded in 1996 by 100 Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) women, NAPAWF (National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum) is the only organization dedicated to empowering AANHPI women and girls and gender non-conforming folks to impact policy and drive systemic change in the U.S. NAPAWF is building a movement for social, political, and structural change by building a multilingual, multigenerational membership that encompasses the diversity of the AANHPI community.
Employing a reproductive justice framework, we use organizing, advocacy, and communications strategies to assert full agency over our lives, our families, and our communities. The organization also stands in solidarity with other women of color facing oppression and marginalization. Position Summary
NAPAWF seeks an experienced and dedicated Finance and Accounting Manager to oversee and advance its financial operations. The Manager will bring strong expertise in financial management and technical accounting, with a solid understanding of GAAP principles. This role ensures the organization's financial stability and compliance by managing key processes, supporting budgeting activities, and contributing to operational excellence.
LOCATION
The Finance and Accounting Manager is a remote position based in one of the following states: IL, FL, NY, CO, GA, PA, MN, TX, CA, DC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance and Accounting
- Lead and manage monthly close processes, ensuring the timely production of comprehensive financial reporting packages for NAPAWF.
- Oversee monthly reconciliations for banking and investment accounts; prepare and analyze accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports to ensure financial accuracy and stability.
- Ensure the accurate recording of donations, earned revenues, and other income in alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Administer and optimize expense reporting and bill payment systems, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and prompt resolution of user and system issues.
Budgeting and Compliance
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Administration to develop and oversee budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Manage the preparation of budgets for new programs, proposals, and grant reporting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with securities laws and GAAP principles by overseeing the timely and accurate filing of financial and accounting reports.
Audits and Regulatory Compliance
- Lead preparations for annual audits and 990 reporting by coordinating necessary documentation and providing detailed explanations.
- Stay informed on evolving accounting standards and regulations to proactively address impacts on the organization’s practices.
- Represent NAPAWF in finance and accounting training sessions, ensuring alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
Operations and Technology Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain the fiscal manual to ensure clear, comprehensive, and accurate policies and procedures.
- Train and mentor staff on organizational policies, procedures, and systems, fostering their ability to navigate and troubleshoot effectively.
- Manage relationships with IT consultants and other vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality operational and technological support.
Staff Management and Leadership
- Supervise and manage entry-level staff, providing clear direction and ensuring team alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines are met and deliverables are achieved, while fostering team development and collaboration.
- Manager, mentor, and support team members by providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit finance and accounting required.
- Proficiency in fund accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct), Excel, and database systems.
- Strong technical competence and the ability to learn new software and systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Collaborative approach to teamwork with the ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
- Strong support of and alignment with NAPAWF’s mission and vision.
- Occasional travel required (up to 10%) and supporting other staff as needed.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The annual salary range for this position is $83,300–$93,700 - salary commensurate with experience.
A highly competitive benefits package includes a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance. NAPAWF covers all premiums and all out-of-pocket in-network expenses through a Health Reimbursement Account (including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurances) - qualified dependents may also be covered. Coverage for employees and eligible dependents starts on day one.
NAPAWF also offers full-time employees 15 days of vacation in the first year, sick leave, flexible spending program options and personal/family leave, as well as paid vacation between December 25 and January 1 of each year.
